Ruth Steinholtz

About

Ruth is a former General Counsel whose remit covered ethics and compliance as well as crisis management.  As GC, she also focused on team and leadership development, working hard to create a healthy culture that encouraged challenge.  Her more than 25 years’ experience as a multi-lingual international legal professional and senior manager in different sectors (FMCG, Pharma, Medical Device and Petrochemicals) gave her a solid, practical base for her subsequent consultancy work.

Ruth brought this experience into the next phase of her career, founding AretéWork to further her mission of rebalancing compliance by creating strong ethical cultures based on authentic, lived values.  Her work since has focused primarily on creating culture and values-based solutions for integrity management; including co-creating ethics ambassador networks.  Ruth’s priority is culture: understanding and shaping it through identifying the unique values of the organisation, the inherent culture risk those values may create and identifying strategies supporting ethical behaviour.

Ruth is co-author with Christopher Hodges, OBE of Ethical Business Practice and Regulation: A Behavioural and Values-Based Approach to Compliance and Enforcement (Hart Publishing 2017).  She also contributed a chapter on the use and benefits of the Barrett cultural assessment methodology, in Culture Audit in Financial Services, edited by Dr Roger Miles (Kogan Page, 2021).
