About

Matt is responsible for 4 teams at Santander that lead policy, complex advisory support to business areas, external engagement and strategic policy development (such as financial crime compliance approaches to environmental crimes and crypto assets) across the full range of financial crime compliance disciplines. His teams also manage sanctions reporting to OFAC, OFSI and other relevant bodies.

Prior to joining Santander in 2016, he spent 5 years as Director Financial Crime at the British Bankers Association, coordinating and representing the banking industry on financial crime matters in the UK and internationally. His early career was in the Civil Service, with roles in the Home Office, HM Treasury and Foreign and Commonwealth Office, involving policy development, evidence to Parliaments, participation in UN/FATF/EU forum, media activities and briefings to senior executives and Ministers.
