Maria Hannan

About

Maria Hannan hold a degree, masters and PhD in law, specialising in criminology and criminal justice from King’s College London. She began her career as a social researcher and has since broadened her experience to work on policy, strategy and transformation programmes. She has worked in the Cabinet Office, Independent Office for Police Conduct, HMRC and currently leads the Criminal Finances and Asset Recovery team in the Economic Crime Directorate of the Home Office. This team are responsible for leading on the Proceeds of Crime Act, policy leads on money laundering, crypto and information sharing, asset recovery and performance analysis, and delivering the Economic Crime Bill. Outside of work Maria is kept busy by her two small boys, two dogs, two cats and a hamster!
