Sir David Hanson is Minister of State at the UK Home Office and a Member of the House of Lords, where he leads on key issues including fraud, public safety, security, and crime prevention. A senior parliamentarian and government minister with decades of public service experience, he plays a central role in shaping the UK’s response to fraud, financial crime, telecommunications security, and public-private partnerships aimed at protecting consumers and strengthening national resilience. He regularly engages with regulators, law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, technology firms, and international partners to advance the government’s security and anti-fraud agenda.

Prior to his current role, Sir David served for over 27 years as a Member of Parliament and held numerous ministerial portfolios covering policing, counter-terrorism, prisons, probation, Northern Ireland, and constitutional affairs. He has also served on the Intelligence and Security Committee, the Justice Select Committee, and several parliamentary and Commonwealth bodies. A Privy Counsellor since 2007 and knighted in 2020, he brings extensive expertise in public policy, legislation, national security, criminal justice, and government affairs.
