Laurent Cohen-Tanugi
About
A member of the Paris and New York Bars, Laurent Cohen-Tanugi is an international corporate lawyer whose career spans over forty years. As a partner of Cleary Gottlieb, Skadden, as well as General Counsel of global pharmaceutical group Sanofi, he has handled major cross-border M&A transactions and related corporate assignments — a topic he previously taught at SLS over several years.
Upon founding his own boutique firm in 2010, he became one of the rare practitioners appointed as independent anti-corruption compliance monitor by the U.S. DOJ and SEC, and subsequently by the World Bank, thereby gaining first-hand experience and expertise in the expanding field of multi-jurisdictional white-collar criminal law. In parallel to his legal career, Laurent has authored over a dozen books and numerous articles on democracy and the rule of law, European affairs, transatlantic relations, and geopolitics. His latest work, entitled “Droits sans frontières”, deals with the controversial issue of the extraterritorial application of national laws.
Laurent Cohen-Tanugi is actively involved in European and international policy matters in various capacities.
