Karen Briggs is a qualified accountant and has held senior executive leadership roles in consulting at KPMG including as an Executive Committee board member. She also spent two years at FTI Consulting.

Focused on banking and financial services throughout her career, she has also been a senior banking regulator and led some of the highest profile banking investigations globally, into investment and retail and commercial banks, insurance groups, asset managers and other regulated entities, with the goal of bridging the global regulator group and the needs of the business. This enables her to rapidly identify potential red flags in relation to culture, leadership and compliance and find remedies. She has a specific focus on governance, risk and compliance and in particular financial crime.

Karen has had a second focus on big data and technology. She was a Board member for K Capital, KPMG’s global technology investment fund and Head of Technology Solutions for the firm, where she led the development and management of AI, cyber, data and other solutions. 

Karen now has a portfolio of NED roles where she is a board member and Audit and Risk Committee chair at a range of retail and investment banking, insurance retail and wholesale and university, consulting and charity organisations. She is also an Advisory Council Member for Elevate City, a women’s leadership network.
