Giles is a senior civil servant in HM Treasury responsible for AML/CTF and financial sanctions policy, and the implementation and enforcement of financial sanctions in the UK (as Director of the Office for Financial Sanctions Implementation). Also the UK’s Head of Delegation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and co-chair of FATF’s Global Network and Coordination Group.

He moved into this job after 4 years working on financial crime policy in HM Treasury as Deputy Director for Sanctions and Illicit Finance. Prior to that, he gained 14 years’ experience working at the heart of government in a range of domestic and international policy roles in HM Treasury and the Foreign Office. Masters in International Relations.
