Adrian Searle

Adrian Searle is currently a Senior Associate Fellow, working at RUSI. Previously, he served as Director of the UK’s National Economic Crime Centre (NECC), where he also oversaw the UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKFIU). In this role, he led major national and international initiatives to strengthen the UK’s response to illicit finance, enhance data-sharing partnerships with banks and technology firms, and coordinate law enforcement action against global financial crime networks.
Following his tenure at the NECC, Searle has taken on board and advisory roles with several organizations focused on financial crime intelligence and technology innovation. He now provides strategic guidance to firms such as TRM Labs and AVIEL Intelligence, helping advance cross-sector collaboration on emerging financial crime threats.
Earlier in his career, Searle held senior positions at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), NatWest, and in national security and the British Army, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to tackling economic and cybercrime challenges.
