CONFERENCE VENUE We are proud to be hosting this year’s event in the magnificent surroundings of Carpenters’ Hall, which is situated in the heart of the City, London’s financial centre. It is located on Throgmorton Avenue, near London Wall - for venue details click here» The history of the Carpenters’ Company goes back over 700 years, with the first written reference a mention of a Master Carpenter in the City of London’s records of 1271. The present Hall was built within the surviving Victorian walls and at least 18 different kinds of wood were used throughout the building, which was intended to act as a showcase for the craft of carpentry. Carpenters' Hall houses a collection of paintings, silver, artefacts and furniture, which reflect the Company's long history. Among the most important pieces on show are the four Master and Wardens' steeple cups made between 1609-1624. The cups play an important role in ceremonial occasions and the Company has been careful to safeguard them over the centuries. Other treasures owned by the Company include three sixteenth century wall paintings from the first Hall, now incorporated into the present building.
